Somebody, Please Tell Me Who I Am by Harry Mazer and Peter Lerangis is the story of Ben Bright, a high school senior that seems to have it all; looks, a great girlfriend, a loving family, and lots of optimism for his future. Ben's family and friends are devastated when he announces that he has enlisted, but eventually rally support for his decision. Ben had high ideals of wanting to serve his country, but seemed extremely naive about the possibility that he would actually fight in Iraq. Almost immediately, Ben is sent to Iraq, and on one of his first missions, his Humvee is blown up and he is seriously injured. The majority of the book deals with how Ben's friends and family cope with his brain injury, and the strain it places on all of them. A quick read, some flaws, may appeal to boys or reluctant readers. My rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
