Banned Books Week 9/24/11-10/1/11

Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment.  Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States.  You might be surprised to learn that one of the most protested books in the United States is a picture book about penguins.  Here is a link to an article talking about some of the most frequently banned books in the USA this year:
